UMPhSA RED PARTY 2009 WRAP-UP

THE PARTY

On the evening of September 24th, 2009, the University of Manitoba faculty of Pharmacy Student’s Association (UMPhSA) held their 2nd annual Red Party at Whiskey Dix nightclub in Winnipeg, Mb. 

This year’s Red Party wowed the 500 guests in attendance with a 45 minute performance by local band Sick City, as well as world renowned DJ Fin-S, who kept the party going on the patio all night.  There was also a successful silent auction and raffle.  To cap the evening off, members of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning joined the party after playing the Edmonton Oilers in an exhibition game at the nearby MTS Centre. 

 PARTY FOR A CAUSE

The Red Party was founded by Advit Shah, UMPhSA social convenor, in the fall of 2008.  Advit’s efforts have been carried on by Kristina Jandavs, 2009 - 2010 UMPhSA social convenor, who successfully organized this year’s 2nd annual Red Party.  This year’s party owes its success to these two dedicated people!

While the Red Party is an opportunity for everyone to have a good time, it is most importantly an opportunity to contribute to the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR).  100% of Red Party proceeds went directly to the foundation.

Since the Red Party’s inception in 2008, Biovail has been the event’s major sponsor.  A special thank-you goes out to Mr. Tony Martinez, VP and GM of Biovail.  The continued support from Biovail is a testament to their genuine care for the people of both the local and global community.
